ChatGPT Plans Compared (October 2026): Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business
ChatGPTQuick answer: ChatGPT’s plans run from low to high: Free → Go → Plus → Pro 100 / Pro 200 / Pro 500, with Business for teams. For most individuals Plus is the sweet spot. Go is a cheaper option if you mostly chat, and Pro only makes sense if you hit Plus limits every week. Current prices, which vary by country, are on the official ChatGPT pricing page.

What do you get on the free plan?
GPT-6 itself. On October 7 OpenAI announced “GPT-6 and Intelligent UI, now rolling out in ChatGPT for everyone” (@OpenAI). Free has tighter caps on messages, file uploads, image generation and deep research.
Is ChatGPT Go worth it over Free?
Go is worth it if you regularly hit Free limits but don’t need Codex or advanced reasoning every day. OpenAI’s Go help article says Go is available in all supported countries, priced in USD except for a limited set of countries that pay in local currency. Its “Think” mode uses GPT-5.6 Luna, GPT-5.6 Sol isn’t included, voice limits are the same as Free, and OpenAI may test ads on Go.
What does ChatGPT Plus add over Go?
Plus gets the full GPT-6 lineup, Codex and deep research, and per the Plus article there is no annual plan. OpenAI’s Codex lead said it “was very important to us that we bring [GPT-6 Astra] to all Plus users and not only Pro, Business and Enterprise” (@thsottiaux). Plus also has a rolling 5-hour limit in ChatGPT Work and Codex, which came back on August 26 to “smoothen the load” on compute (@thsottiaux).
When should you upgrade to ChatGPT Pro?
When you run out of Plus allowance most weeks, or need Pro models or Ultrafast. Pro is billed monthly only, in three tiers: Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500. Only Pro 500 includes Ultrafast, and Pro 200 has reopened to new subscribers with a lower allowance than before. Details are in our ChatGPT Pro tiers guide.
Which plan should a team buy?
ChatGPT Business, which needs at least 2 users. Standard seats suit most staff and are cheaper billed annually. Premium seats sit above Standard with 5x the usage and no 5-hour limit. Read ChatGPT Business for small teams. Sharing one personal login is against the rules; see can you share ChatGPT Plus?
Do any ChatGPT plans include API access?
No. Every ChatGPT plan is separate from the OpenAI API, which is billed per token on platform.openai.com. If you’re building an app, compare OpenAI API pricing instead.
